Our Program

INFANT

Early Learning Infant Zone (3-18 Months)

The Southeast child development centre Infant Program has been carefully designed to deliver a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment with activities to help your child achieve important milestones while having fun! The focus in our infant rooms is on getting children really comfortable in their new environments. This is a crucial age where children need considerable attention and care. Every day reveals an exciting new world for your baby. Learning and development start long before birth and accelerates rapidly afterwards. Therefore, infants must continually build knowledge and connect new ideas to what they already know and do. We do this by following each child’s individual schedule. Our early learning program is designed to assist your child in obtaining the motor skills they need to excel to the next learning stage. We focus solely on visual learning, self-awareness, outdoor explore, tummy time, gross motor, fine motor, self-help skills, Solitary play (self-directed, independent exploration and discovery), Language and expression, academics and much more. Infants need a caring and loving environment that enables them to grow strong both physically and mentally. We use several different learning mechanisms in our weekly program plan that includes first words, numbers, sounds, touch etc.

What we provide to our Infants

TODDLER

Play to Learn (18-30 months)

Toddlers are busy, busy, busy! Our Southeast Child Development Toddler Program is kid-paced while still fostering important developmental skills and making learning fun! At Southeast Child Development Centre, we understand the unmatched energy and curiosity of toddlers. As such, we are confident our program fills their day with challenging and engaging activities to build on previous knowledge and present them with new opportunities to grow. At this stage, children start to learn more independence and also thrive in the class’s daily routine.

Many children exhibit a language explosion at this time using many new words every day. We help the children at this stage not only to experience the wonders of the environment around them but also to interact and manipulate their environment in a safe and exciting way.

What we provide to our Busy toddlers:

  • Building Language — We provide our toddlers an American Sign Language program, which has been shown to help with nonverbal and eventual verbal communication. Your child will be able to effectively communicate their needs with caregivers and peers, leading to more met needs and a more nurturing environment
  • Stories and Songs — Entertaining stories coupled with a variety of silly, fun songs help your toddler’s imagination continue to grow while they learn those important skills needed for the next developmental level
  • Creativity — Our classrooms are designed with imagination in mind. We offer age-appropriate learning centers for your toddler as they explore their abilities in music, art, early literacy, pretend play and more
  • Fine and Gross Motor Skills — We know that an active body is a healthy body while playing indoors or outdoors on our large, age-separated play spaces. Whether a child is learning to walk, running at full speed, reaching for the monkey bars or simply tossing a ball to a friend, they will learn all about their body and celebrate accomplishments both great and small
  • Social Interaction — When children enter the world of toddlerhood, they become more aware of the world around them. We understand the importance of friendship and cultivating harmonious relationships with teachers and peers. At Kids ‘R’ Kids, your toddler will learn how to have positive interactions, regardless of differences in nationality, religious belief, or cultural norms

PRESCHOOL

Learn to Learn (36 – 72 Months)

At Southeast Child Development Centre, we understand your eager preschooler is ready to go all the time. Rest assured, our program is well-equipped for this energy and constant thirst for knowledge through our accredited Preschool program.

This is done both academically and socially while preserving all of the fun of being in Preschool. Our Preschool Program provides your child with the environment, nutrition, safety, and tools they need to keep their active minds growing and learning. Our accredited program ensures that every child receives an accelerated foundation for elementary school. Turn-taking, sharing and collaboration are regular parts of the day. Preschool children are delightfully social; we help them navigate the highs and lows that come with first friendships. Preschool children have terrific ideas of their own that we incorporate into the daily programming. They are also capable of empathy and generosity so we increase the focus on helping build strong characters.

Our Pre-K program sets your child up for success for Kindergarten and beyond. As your child is preparing for the excitement of starting school, we provide them with a foundation of fun, learning and development that will benefit them for the rest of their lives! The sounds of children laughing and playing are the sounds of children learning at the Southeast child development centre.

  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills — Starting at this age, children learn not only to react to their surroundings, but to anticipate, decide, and solve the problems in front of them. Our program offers them a safe, nurturing environment for them to begin building these important skills
  • Character development — Emotional, behavioural, and social skills are developed through our program to help your child grow into a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted citizen
  • Vocabulary — Preschoolers in our program will learn to build and grow their vocabulary in preparation for Kindergarten and beyond
  • Social-emotional activities — As they are growing, preschoolers are learning how to display their emotions and interact with their peers and teachers. Our program is developed to further guide your child’s social-emotional growth through positive interactions with those around them
  • Literacy skills — Learning to read is an exciting time in a child’s life! Your preschooler will start putting their alphabet skills to work as we learn to read together in groups and individual times
  • Small group instruction — Using small group time to explore new concepts and activities increases your preschooler’s chances to explore with positive guidance while learning to cooperate and work together with their peers

What we provide to our kindergartners:

  • Academic Introductions — These are group learning sessions where students will be introduced to the subject matter they are learning that day
  • Independent Exercises — As your child is growing older, they will begin to explore the world around them independently. We provide plenty of opportunities for the children in our program to explore subjects, concepts, and ideas on their own to further develop their independent thinking skills
  • Large and Small Group Activities — Along with independent learning, we encourage the children in our programs to work together. We have created small and large group stations where children will learn to cooperate with each other to solve problems and investigate new ideas and materials. Our small group stations focus on close engagement with peers while our large group activities focus on a community approach to learning
  • Realistic Application — In each educational experience, children will learn to apply thought, imagination and creativity to real-life situations and problems
